Legislative Advocacy, Compliance & PAC

WSIA advocates on behalf of its members to preserve and enhance their position in the market. WSIA’s legislative and regulatory efforts play an important role for the Association by monitoring and expressing the membership’s positions on state and federal issues affecting the surplus lines industry. WSIA, assisted by its Legislative Committee, works with state and federal organizations where objectives are consistent with WSIA positions and principles. In order to ensure WSIA members’ interests are represented on important and timely issues, WSIA provides comments and advocacy outreach to state and federal legislators, insurance regulators and other important groups influencing the practices and procedures of the surplus lines insurance industry.

WSIA’s legislative efforts are also advanced by the WSIA PAC, which is committed to supporting candidates for the U.S. House and Senate whose philosophies and attitudes are consistent with the goals of WSIA, the surplus lines industry and the wholesale distribution system. WSIA members can learn more about the PAC on the WSIA PAC website. The WSIA PAC receives contributions from employees of WSIA members who support the PAC goals. The PAC does not solicit any other individuals. The WSIA PAC website is intended for the use of WSIA member employees only.

Important legislative and regulatory updates are distributed to all WSIA members and can be found in the
WSIA News. For a detailed summary of our most recent state and federal legislative activity, please see the March 2019 Comprehensive Legislative, Regulatory and Compliance Update.  If you would like to receive WSIA legislative updates, contact Keri Kish at keri@wsia.org
